Specify the Coating Route Around Weaving

Hexagonal wire netting is formed by twisting wires together rather than resistance-welding a square grid. For this hot-dip galvanized steel family, establish whether the order requires galvanizing before weaving (GBW) or galvanizing after weaving (GAW). GBW uses wire coated before the netting is formed; GAW coats the fabricated netting. These terms describe the production sequence, not a guaranteed zinc mass, service life or certification. Record the agreed route and coating acceptance requirements in the purchase order.

The material family is hot-dip galvanized steel. Base-wire grade, zinc-coating requirements and supporting inspection documents need to be agreed for the order; no alloy composition is declared here.

Define the Netting Before Comparing Quotes

  • Hexagonal opening：Specify the nominal opening, units and measurement direction on a drawing or agreed sample. A catalog mesh-count designation alone does not define a hexagonal cell, and dimensions measured in different directions must not be treated as interchangeable.
  • Wire diameter：State the diameter in millimetres and whether it refers to the base wire or finished coated wire. If a gauge number is used, name the gauge system and provide the equivalent diameter to avoid ambiguity.
  • Twists and edges：Agree the twist construction, edge or selvedge treatment and any reinforcement requirement. Use an approved drawing or sample to define what will be checked on the delivered roll.
  • Roll format：Include roll width, length, quantity and packing requirements. State handling limits and the measurement condition for the netting so suppliers quote against the same dimensional basis.

Hexagonal Netting RFQ and Acceptance Checklist

Use this checklist to agree the order specification, rather than applying a woven square-mesh tolerance table. BS EN 10223-2:2012 addresses hexagonal steel netting for agricultural, insulation and fencing purposes; ASTM A390 covers galvanized poultry fence fabric, including hexagonal poultry netting.
