Wire Mesh Filter Discs for OEM Filtration
Source custom wire mesh filter discs for OEM filtration. Specify stainless steel grade, diameter, mesh, layers and edge finish for a drawing-based quote.
View SpecificationsSpecify the Finished Disc, Not Just the Mesh
Wire mesh filter discs are flat filtration components cut from woven wire cloth and finished for a housing or equipment interface. A quote needs both the mesh specification and the finished part drawing. The fields below define a purchase request; they are not stock sizes or guaranteed production limits.
Outer diameter, center-hole diameter where needed, finished thickness, flatness, and tolerances in one stated unit system
Specified stainless grade, such as 304, 316, or 316L, plus material requirements for support layers and any edging
Weave, mesh count and wire diameter, clear opening where applicable, or an agreed retention rating with its test method
Single layer, supported multilayer pack, or specified sintered construction; identify each layer and its order
Cut edge, bound rim, or specified joining detail, with exposed mesh area, seat dimensions, and sealing requirements
Select one or more specifications. Your choices will be included in the quote request.

| Disc requirement | Include in the drawing or RFQ | What to confirm | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Outer diameter and center hole | Finished OD, ID if applicable, shape, units, and drawing revision | Whether dimensions refer to the mesh blank or the finished rimmed part | |
| Thickness and tolerances | Overall thickness, dimensional tolerances, and flatness requirement | Stack compression, rim thickness, and available space in the housing | |
| Material grade | Grade for filter mesh, support mesh, rim, and any joining materials | Compatibility with the medium, temperature, and cleaning conditions; requested material records | |
| Woven mesh geometry | Weave, mesh count, wire diameter, and clear opening where applicable | For Dutch weave, identify the weave and both wire systems rather than using a square-mesh conversion | |
| Retention requirement | Target particle retention, rating definition, and agreed test method | Whether the quoted value is a geometric opening or a measured filtration rating | |
| Layers and support | Layer count, each layer's mesh specification, order, and flow direction | Loose stack, joined pack, or sintered construction; support required by the equipment design | |
| Edge and active area | Cut or bound edge, rim width and material, exposed diameter, and seal interface | Finished seating dimensions, acceptable loose wires or burrs, and unobstructed mesh area |
Mesh Count, Opening, and Filter Rating Are Different Specifications
A mesh-to-micron chart is only useful when the associated wire geometry and rating definition are known. State which quantity the purchase specification controls.
| Term | Meaning | How to specify it | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mesh count | Number of openings per linear inch in a stated wire direction | Include wire diameter and weave; mesh count alone does not fix the clear opening | |
| Clear opening | Geometric space between adjacent wires in an open woven mesh | Give the opening in mm or µm and the wire diameter; do not treat it as a tested efficiency rating | |
| Filtration rating | Particle-retention claim defined by a test and acceptance criterion | State nominal or absolute terminology only with the agreed definition, method, and acceptance criterion | |
| Dutch weave designation | Woven filter cloth with different warp and shute geometry | Specify construction, both mesh counts and wire diameters where available, and the agreed retention requirement |
Compare Single-Layer Discs, Screen Packs, and Sintered Discs
Use these construction descriptions to define the part you need. Availability, dimensions, edge finish, and verification are reviewed against the exact drawing and order.
Single-layer woven discs
A flat cut piece of plain, twill, or specified Dutch weave cloth. Define the opening or retention requirement, wire geometry, edge condition, and equipment support.
Supported multilayer screen packs
A filter layer combined with specified support layers. List every layer, its order, and how the pack is held together. A stack of mesh layers is not automatically sintered.
Rimmed or edge-bound discs
A mesh disc or pack with a specified perimeter binding. Show the rim material, width, thickness, and finished OD. Edge binding does not by itself guarantee a seal in the housing.
Sintered wire mesh discs
A distinct construction in which wire mesh layers are bonded by sintering. Identify the layer structure, finished thickness, retention specification, and required test evidence for a separate sourcing review.
Prepare a Complete Filter Disc RFQ
Start with the equipment interface and the separation task, then define the media and finished assembly. A sample is useful, but pair it with a drawing and acceptance criteria for repeat orders.
Describe the filtration duty
Name the liquid, gas, or process material, particles to retain, temperature, flow, pressure, and expected differential pressure. Include the cleaning method if reuse is intended.
Fix the finished dimensions
Provide OD, any ID or other cutout, overall thickness, flatness, tolerances, exposed mesh area, and seating detail. State whether dimensions are in millimeters or inches.
Specify media and material
Identify the alloy, weave, mesh count, wire diameter, and opening or agreed retention requirement. For 304, 316, or 316L, review the actual medium and cleaning conditions rather than choosing by grade name alone.
Define the layer stack and edge
List the filter and support layers in order, mark flow direction, and detail any binding or joining. Include the rim and seal interface on the finished-part drawing.
Agree inspection and commercial details
Request the material records, dimensional checks, mesh inspection, and sample approval needed for the part. Add quantity, destination, target delivery date, and packing requirements for quotation.
Make Filter Disc Quotes Easier to Compare
WireMesh Sourcing supports specification-led sourcing, factory matching, quality control, and export coordination. A complete disc specification gives buyers and suppliers a common basis for reviewing the finished component.
Separate mesh from finished-part dimensions
OD, rim width, thickness, and active area distinguish a mesh blank from the component that must fit the equipment.
Compare equivalent filtration requirements
An explicit opening or tested retention requirement avoids comparing mesh-count-only offers with different wire geometry.
Define what receiving inspection checks
Drawing revision, material designation, layer sequence, and edge condition become reviewable order requirements.
Prepare for repeat purchases
Keep the approved drawing, mesh specification, sample criteria, and packing instructions together for subsequent RFQs.
Where Mesh Filter Discs Can Be Specified
Review these applications where a flat wire mesh component fits the equipment design. Final suitability depends on the medium, retention target, support, seal, and operating conditions.
OEM valves, nozzles, and fluid fittings
Small flat screens can be specified at component inlets or inside fittings. Define the exposed area, seating dimensions, pressure conditions, and acceptable edge condition.
Fuel and lubrication equipment
Stainless steel filter discs may be reviewed for fuel, oil, or lubrication hardware. Include fluid compatibility, required retention, support, and inspection criteria.
Extrusion screen packs
Round woven screen packs are one form of extrusion filtration component. Supply the breaker-plate interface, process material, temperature, layer order, and screen-change requirements.
Process liquid and gas assemblies
Flat discs can form part of an inline strainer or filter assembly where the equipment provides the required support and sealing. Specify the process duty and finished interface together.
Avoid Ambiguity Before Ordering Custom Filter Discs
Small differences in geometry or assembly can change how a disc fits and how the filter is evaluated.
Using mesh count as the entire filtration specification
The same mesh count can use different wire diameters and therefore different openings. State the wire geometry or the agreed filtration rating and test method.
Confusing blank OD with finished OD
A bound rim changes the finished edge and can reduce the exposed mesh area. Dimension the finished part and its active area separately.
Calling every multilayer pack a sintered disc
Stacked, joined, and sintered mesh are different constructions. Identify the assembly method and layer sequence explicitly.
Assuming the rim provides the housing seal
Perimeter binding and sealing perform different jobs. Show the seat, seal, gasket if required, and support arrangement on the equipment drawing.

Generated illustration of a filter disc dimensional check using a caliper and gloved handling. No measurement result or factory inspection record is shown. Follow the equipment manufacturer's procedure for inspecting, fitting, and servicing the finished component.
Check the Disc and Its Equipment Interface
Inspect the received part
Compare the drawing revision, finished dimensions, layer assembly, material identification, and requested documents with the order. Check for distorted mesh, loose wires, damaged rims, or contamination.
Confirm support, seating, and flow direction
Check that the finished disc fits the intended seat and support. For a layered component, verify orientation and sealing against the equipment drawing before assembly.
Follow the equipment startup procedure
Use the equipment manufacturer's limits and checks for pressure, flow, and leakage. A disc's material grade or layer count does not establish an assembly pressure rating.
Inspect before cleaning or reuse
Use only the cleaning process agreed for the medium, material, and assembly. Reuse requires an undamaged mesh, intact edges and joints, and acceptable condition under the buyer's inspection procedure.
Agree Protection and Traceability Before Dispatch
Specify packing and document requirements in the RFQ and confirm the agreed plan before order release. Requirements depend on disc size, mesh fineness, finish, quantity, and transport conditions.
Protect mesh faces and rims
Request suitable separators, covers, and rigid protection so discs do not rub, crease, or deform during handling.
Separate different configurations
Keep different diameters, materials, mesh specifications, and layer stacks identifiable within the shipment. Agree pack quantities and identification labels.
Identify the drawing and order
Define the required part number, drawing revision, material designation, quantity, and lot reference on pack labels and shipment records.
Confirm requested evidence
Agree which material records, dimensional inspection results, mesh checks, or sample approvals are required and when they must be issued.
Four Ways to Define a Filter Disc Request
These are illustrative procurement scenarios, not completed customer projects or performance claims. Generated product images illustrate single-layer, rimmed, annular, and multilayer disc formats; they do not verify a supplied configuration or specification.

Single-layer inlet screen
An OEM defines a round woven disc by finished OD, clear opening, wire diameter, 304 material requirement, supported seating detail, and cut-edge acceptance criteria.

Rimmed lubrication filter disc
A buyer specifies the oil, operating conditions, finished OD, exposed mesh diameter, filter and support layers, rim geometry, and inspection requirements.

Annular screen with a center hole
A drawing identifies outer and inner diameters, concentricity requirements, overall thickness, material, edge finish at both perimeters, and the equipment seal interface.

Replacement multilayer screen pack
A maintenance team supplies the existing part drawing, each layer's mesh specification and order, joining detail, equipment interface, sample criteria, and repeat-order quantity.
